OVERVIEW

If you’re serious about Atlantic salmon on the fly, you’ll want to fish the Lakselva — and Olderø Fly Fishing Lodge puts you right on it.

This river is known for its clarity, structure, and big, powerful fish — some of the largest Atlantic salmon in Scandinavia. With experienced guides and well-managed private beats, you’ll have the time and space to fish it properly. Whether you’re swinging tubes through deep channels or skating dries over glassy tailouts, every cast feels like it could be the one.

Marina and Stephan, two of our team, have fished here more than once — and both times walked away with incredible memories (and fish to match). You may have seen Marina’s monster salmon lighting up our social feeds. The reactions said it all.

Back at the lodge, you’ll enjoy a comfortable, well-equipped base with excellent facilities, standout food, and a quiet focus on the rhythm of the river. If salmon are on your mind, Olderø delivers the kind of experience that stays with you long after you’ve packed away your rods.

ACCOMMODATION

Olderø Fly Fishing Lodge combines modern Scandinavian comfort with a deep respect for the fishing experience. Set on the banks of the Lakselva River, the lodge is purpose-built for anglers, offering bright, spacious rooms with en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds, and calming views of the forest and water.

The main lodge features a stylish common area with a fireplace, large windows, and plenty of space to relax between sessions. A dedicated gear room and drying area make it easy to stay organized and ready for the river. The stay is fully all-inclusive, with excellent meals prepared daily using fresh, local ingredients, paired with a thoughtful selection of wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options.

With just a handful of rods in camp and everything taken care of, Olderø offers a calm, well-run basecamp for salmon anglers who appreciate quality — both on and off the water.

THE FISHING

Olderø Fly Fishing Lodge gives you access to some of the most productive beats on the Lakselva River, a system known for producing some of the largest Atlantic Salmon in Scandinavia.

You’ll fish a mix of classic runs, deep holding pools, and technical tail-outs. The water is clear and varied, which means adapting your approach is part of the game. One day you might be swinging a long line on a broad bend with a 14-foot rod, and the next you’re targeting fish with smaller flies and stealth on tighter, more intimate water.

The salmon here are big. Fish in the 15–25 lb range are common, and every season produces fish over 30 lbs. They're strong, fresh, and typically hooked just a short distance from the sea — so you can expect hard runs and full-on battles.

Most guests fish 11–15 ft rods in the 7-9wt range with floating or multi-tip systems, depending on conditions. When the water drops and warms later in the season, single-handers and small flies can come into play. For gear advice and updates on river conditions, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help you prep.
