EARLY RISERS TRAVEL
OVERVIEW
This is a premium destination — and it shows. The guesthouse is steps from the ocean and blends barefoot luxury with excellent service, fresh island-style meals, and thoughtful comfort throughout. Every detail is handled, so you can focus on fishing and soaking up the experience. With no phone signal and no distractions, Farquhar invites you to disconnect from everything — and reconnect with what matters: clear water, strong fish, and unforgettable days on one of fly fishing’s most legendary atolls.

Farquhar’s beachfront guesthouse strikes the perfect balance between remote island living and refined comfort. Hosting up to ten anglers, each twin room comes with air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom, and both indoor and outdoor showers — perfect for rinsing off after a long day on the flats.
Meals are served primarily in the indoor dining room, with an outdoor table available when conditions allow. A skilled in-house chef leads the kitchen, preparing exceptional meals each day using fresh, locally sourced ingredients — often including fish caught that morning by the guide team. Delicious packed lunches are enjoyed out on the flats, keeping you fueled for long sessions. After fishing, the bar and lounge areas offer a relaxed space to swap stories and unwind.
Don’t forget to say hello to the “pets” — a curious group of resident GTs that hang around the boat launch area. And in the evenings, the “bell ringers” tradition celebrates standout catches of the day. It’s a well-run, welcoming base for one of the wildest fisheries on the planet.

THE FISHING
Farquhar is all about variety — few saltwater destinations offer this many species in such a wild and untouched setting. You’ll fish across a landscape of white sand flats, coral heads, turtle grass lagoons, and reef drop-offs, with new terrain — and new targets — around every corner.Have a look at our film "Faruhar" to see why we love the place so much. Also the place where the bird-eating GTs were filmed for BBC, off Goulette.
You can expect regular shots at Giant Trevally, but they’re just one part of the picture. Farquhar is also home to Bumphead Parrotfish, Bonefish, Triggerfish, Milkfish, Indo-Pacific Permit, and a long list of reef and bluewater species. No two days are the same — and that’s the beauty of it. One of the places on the planet you can go specifcally to target Bumpies with a high probability of landing one
Fishing is done mostly from a skiff and on foot, with one guide per pair of anglers. You’ll wade across diverse flats, cover reef edges, and hunt fish in skinny water and current seams depending on tides and conditions. There is something for all levels of agility. If you only wanted to fish from the skiff, with the guide poling you around that is an option too. You’ll want 8–12 wt rods with floating lines and a solid mix of salty flies from small shrimp to big beasts. Maybe even a flip flop!
If you like a fishery that keeps you thinking and keeps things changing, Farquhar delivers. For gear tips or more info, just reach out.

GETTING THERE

Farquhar Atoll is one of the most remote Outer Islands in the Seychelles, located roughly 770 km southwest of Mahé.
To get there, you’ll fly into Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) on Mahé. From there, a weekly scheduled charter flight will take you to Farquhar. The flight typically includes a brief stop on Alphonse Island to drop off or pick up other guests, before continuing on to Farquhar.
We recommend arriving in Mahé at least four hours before the charter departure, or ideally the day before, to allow for any delays.
Once you land on Farquhar, you’ll be transferred directly to the guesthouse by cart to settle in and prepare for your first day on the flats.
